Many years ago, when we still had our smaller 24-foot "Class C" motor home, we were looking for a way to get to Maryville, TN, from  Cherokee, NC, that didn't require us to go through Gatlinburg, TN, and Pigeon Forge, TN.  We looked at a map, and chose US Route 129, without knowing anything of its nature (or history).  Needless to say, it was a rather "interesting" (scary) ride.  Several times, we could see the back-end of our RV as we went around the very sharp and sometimes steep curves.  We eventually made it to Maryville, but vowed to never take Route 129 again.  Bob and Debbie and family tried the ride in a mini-van, and pretty much made the whole group motion-sick.
